Commercial buildings with sustained daytime electricity use can consume a high proportion of solar generation on site. A useful feasibility study therefore starts with interval consumption data, the roof's condition and structure, access constraints, existing electrical infrastructure and the available grid connection.

The scope may include structural coordination, distribution-network applications, export limitation, programme planning and monitoring requirements. The proposal sets out the assumptions used for generation, on-site consumption and financial modelling so they can be reviewed by the business and its advisers.

How is commercial solar payback calculated?
It depends on installed cost, generation, the proportion used on site, avoided import prices, export income, maintenance and financing. We show the assumptions rather than presenting one payback period for every building.
Does the roof need a structural survey?
The building and proposed mounting system need an appropriate structural assessment. The required level of investigation depends on the roof type, records, condition and system design.
Will the installation disrupt operations?
Programme, access, isolations and working areas are planned with the site team. The practical approach depends on the building and its operating requirements.
